About Sadie Kendall, creator of Kendall Farms Crème Fraîche
It was 1978. I was at the doorstep of law school when I made my first pot of cheese. Song of my soul! So I followed my heart and studied dairy science instead of law.
Fresh out of California Polytechnic Institute, San Luis Obispo, in 1981 I established Kendall Cheese Company. Initially, crème fraîche was a secondary product, but, by 1987, it had taken control of my business and my life. (little wonder, my grandmother's name was "Cloutier" and her roots, Normandy).

In the 80's, it wasn't easy to find a cream producer willing to take the extra care and time required for our cream. After several false starts, a perfect match was made. We found a producer small enough to be willing to take the extra time. Then came the careful selection of starters, with a proper mix to bring out the beauty of that cream. Finally, it was right, perfect. We have been supplying the finest shops and chefs in California ever since.
